International Arts and Artists’ Hillyer Art Space Presents

Brazilian Contemporary Printmakers

Hillyer Art Space at 9 Hillyer Court, NW, is proud to present Brazilian Contemporary Printmakers, a group exhibition of print art from Brazil.  The exhibition opens Friday, March 7, 2008 with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and runs through Friday, April 25, 2008.  Admittance is free.  Content is suitable for children.

Developed and curated by Eduardo Besen, co-founder of Galeria Gravura Brasileira, Contemporary Brazilian Printmakers features a selection of 31 artists who demonstrate the powerful panorama of Brazilian print art today.  The exhibition realizes the wide range and diversity of aesthetics and techniques of printmaking and includes works in varied dimensions and shapes that exemplify the vibrancy of this unique and historic art form.  The selected artists for this exhibition, both emerging and established, offer traditional, experimental and mixed media forms of printmaking.  From bright colors to muted sepia tones to black-ink woodcut prints, the exhibition brings together a history of print art in the making.

The exhibition will feature the following artists: Jacqueline Aronis, Arnaldo Battaglini, Ana Elisa Baptista, Ernesto Bonato, Ulysses Boscolo, Elisa Bracher, Marco Buti, Paulo Carapunarlo, Claudio Caropreso, Maria C. Carvalho, Renata Basile Da Silva, Margot Delgado, Larissa Franco, Helena Freddi, Sheila Goloborotko, Evandro Carlos Jardim, Fabricio Lopez, Francisco Maringelli, Claudio Mubarac, Marcio Pannunzio, Paulo Penna, Laerte Ramos, Simone Rebelo, Augusto Sampaio, Armando Sobral, Andrea Tavares, Dio Viana, Fernando Vilela, Maria Villares, Giorgia Volpe, and Walter Wagner.

This exhibition was developed and coordinated by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC in conjunction with Galeria Gravura Brasileira, Sao Paolo, Brazil and the Brazilian Embassy of Washington, DC.

Hillyer Art Space is funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and by private, local supporters.
About | Hillyer Art Space, at 9 Hillyer Court, NW, is open to the public Monday 10 a.m to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at other times by appointment.  Admittance is free.  Hillyer Art Space is a non-profit contemporary exhibition site and is a program of International Arts & Artists, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing cross-cultural understanding and exposure to the arts internationally through traveling exhibitions, programs, and services to artists, arts institutions, and the public.
